I participated in the Advent calendar from @24_illustrations on Instagram.
The Theme was Wilderness.
The Theme Wilderness makes me think about forests and wildlife. That’s how I came to my inspirations Forest and the Alpine Ibex.
To put the christmas spirit in, I researched animals in the mythology around Christmas. I found the Yule goat, the goats of Odin (Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr) and the god Devac. In Sweden, the yule goat is a spirit that makes sure the preparations are done properly.
So with all those inspirations I created a ghostly Ibex creature in a magical forest.
First I drew some Ibex to get to know them.
I thought about how my yule goat charater should look like.
I made some thumbnails for the illustration.
And here is the finished piece.
