Inktober 2019
Another year, another Inktober. I wanted to create all dark and witchy artworks this year. I worked on A5 this year, doubble the size from last year. So here are my Paintings and my thoughts on them:
01 Ring
Well my ring is a witch circle out of bones in a dark night on the forest ground.
The bones are from a saiga antelope. I’ve been studying them for another project.
02 Mindless
A young witch trying a difficult spell mindlessly. Will she find her way back?
03 Bait
Trying to catch magical monsters with a black millipede as bait… What do you think will come crawling?
04 Freeze
The hand of a dark witch caught in the middle of grabbing you. Where did the magic freeze come from? Did someone save you or did it come from inside yourself?
05 Build
If you take the substantive and translate build into german it means “gestalt” which I would explain kind of you see someone or something that you can’t quite make out clearly. That was my inspiration for today.
06 Husky
A little boy was taking his husky for a walk in the woods when he got captured by an old hag of a witch. He could convince her not to eat them. They had to be her servants instead, the old witch could use the help. But after a while the witch got tired of feeding two mouths. With a wicked spell she turned the two in a hybrid monster. The witches monster doesn’t look to happy about his fate… Was that a good idea or will her monster tear her apart?
07 Enchanted
I don’t really know why but big stones totally feel enchanting to me. Like Stonehenge or something in that direction. Makes me think magic and rituals…
08 Frail
If you look through the eyes into the soul of every creature, you’ll find a frail part there. But be careful, the dark ones hide them well behind walls and darkness, so you might not get there alive.
09 Swing
We all know the real form of the moon, in theory. But I find all the forms and sizes the moon takes in mythology and folklore fascinating. With a bit of fantasy the moon can be anything. So why not a swing… That would be totally awsome!
10 Pattern
A deck of cards with beautiful backs builds a pattern before you. You formulate the all important question in your mind, you draw your cards and stare at the backs….What answer will they hold for you?
11 Snow
It starts to snow. You reache out and catch a snow flake on your glove. Hold it close to your face to see the unique shape. But what is that? A little tiny skull is in the middle of the snowflake, is he grinning at you? Before you can think about something else it starts to snow more and more heavy. You look up when a tiny sting in your hand suggests the bloody thing bit you! That can’t be good. You start running to get yourself to safety but the snow storm is all around. Everything is white, but then you see something approaching…. See the next prompt to find out what.Might be slightly obvious…
12 Dragon
In the deadly snow storm you see something. Something or someone is coming. But only when it’s too late, one can make out the face of the snow dragon through the storm.
13 Ash
If you cut the roots off, the tree will turn to ash sooner or later…
14 Overgrown
An overgrown grave in the twilight. On the gravestone are moon glyphs telling you a story of power and time… Who might lay there to rest?
15 Legend
Who has not heard of the legend baba Yaga? Sneaking through the dark forest her intentions can’t be good..
16 Wild
Cat’s are just the best pet’s as far as I know.. Even when we tame them, keep in mind their spirit will stay wild 🖤
17 Ornament
In the witches church at dawn, when the last light hits the windows you can feel the magic. It draws on the walls and the ground through the ornamented windows.
18 Misfit
If you express yourself through style you are quickly judged as a misfit. Well own it!

19 Sling
Well that’s where my mind went first
20 Tread
The treads of an old stone stair, overgrown with plants…They lead you to your next adventure!
They say do one thing a day that scares you. What’s yours today?
21 Treasure
Don’t anger your familiar…otherwise he might end up stealing your treasure. Like the magical amulet you desperately need for a spell!
22 Ghost
If you could talk to your own ghost, what would you tell or ask him? Maybe yourself from a while back and a while in the future…. Probably an interesting conversation.
23 Ancient
An ancient tree in the spooky witchlands. Bristlecone Pines are some of the longest-lived life forms on Earth. Some are more than 5000 years old. Imagine the wisdom and magic in these trees.
24 Dizzy
When a young witch feels dizzy it might be a spell gone wrong or somone elses magic got a hold of her… What do you think happened here?
25 Tasty
How about a tasty human head with a side for dinner?
26 Dark
The witch of shadows creeps out of the dark. Be aware for she could hide in your shadow too…
27 Coat
Deep in the forest you can find stones with a coat of moss. It shimmers in all shades of green and yellow, when the sunlight hits it, it almost looks like a magical coat.
28 Ride
What would a little forest creature or witch ride?
Sure as hell looks like a fun ride!
29 Injured
Some of the worst injuries are the ones you can’t see…
Even worse, the ones you do to yourself…These bad, horrible mean thoughts an opinions about yourself. Like a little demon sitting on your shoulders, whispering those nasty sticky thoughts in your ear…
30 Catch

31 Ripe
The time is ripe.
